Biography
Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, with over 10 years of experience in research and development in machine learning. I work at the intersection of science and industry: I was one of the lead developers of the GPU version of the CatBoost library, and currently lead engineering teams at Yandex Cloud that build ML-powered products and technologies, including the AI Studio platform, the Yandex SpeechKit speech recognition and synthesis service, and the Yandex SpeechSense speech analytics service. I combine my industry work with research and teaching. I have supervised more than 10 bachelor’s and master’s students and teach courses in the master’s program at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of St. Petersburg State University. At the Markov Laboratory, I lead research work of students, graduate students, and early-career researchers. What interests me most is the full lifecycle of creating new technologies: from defining research problems, conducting experiments, and publishing scientific papers, to engineering implementation and deployment in industrial products.
